Welcome to my portfolio!
I'm Carolyn Diaz, a Mexican-American, first-generation student majoring in International Relations & Global Studies at The University of Texas at Austin.
From the DFW metroplex, I discovered a passion to connect with others & document their life stories while in my high school's yearbook staff. This lead me to first major in Journalism going into university, where I also carried a dream to become a foreign correspondent. This led me to intern with Star Local Media and FOX 4 DFW, as well as become involved with news student organizations such as The Daily Texan and Texas News Channel.
My appreciation for the craft of storytelling has not (and will never!) leave me, but after my time as an intern with Malala Fund and exploring personal interests, I changed the course of my studies and career. Not only did I want to become more informed on international affairs as a study, but I realized that the best way for me to make an impact on the world is through development and policy. Now as an IRG major, I am striving to work towards a career in international development.
Though some things have changed, some remain the same:
a curiosity to understand the world around me and a drive to push for social change.

In my personal life, I love photography, art, coffee and listening to Coldplay as much as humanly possible
